The son of Trebonianus Gallus, Volusian was given the rank of Caesar at the time of his father’s ascension. On the death of Hostilian, he was immediately created Augustus and ruled jointly with his father until their murders in AD 253.
This coin shows Volusian on the obverse and represents the period when he was Augustus. The reverse shows Pax standing left with the legend appearing to read PAX AVGG.
