Tetradrachm minted in 81 BC at Tyre, Phoenicia, now largely in modern Lebanon.
The reverse shows an eagler on the prow of a ship with an olive branch. The field contains the mintmarks of Tyre together with date markings.
Tetradrachm of tyre. The head depicts Helquarth or Melqarth, Lord of Tyre.
The original was reputed to have come from a hoard discovered in the late nineteenth century and was supplied to us by a collector.
