Medieval Pendant Seal dated 1200 - 1300 depicting the execution of St Thomas A Becket in Canterbury Cathedral on December 29th 1170. The seal shows Edward Grun giving the last rites at the altar and three knights with swords. The monl praying in arch at the bottom is brother Richard.
Becket was made Archbishop of Canterbury in 1162 and was at odds with King Henry over the rights of the Church.
He was assassinated by followers of the king in 1170 and venerated as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church.
This seal comes complete with suspension loop.
