Edward the Confessor ruled from 1042 - 1066. He was the son of Aethelred II and Emma of Normandy. He opened a number of new mints. This penny was minted at the relatively rare mint of Chichester by Aelfwine. It is of a type known as 'Facing Bust' and is listed in Seaby's as No 1183. The original was in Good VF condition.
