Saxon Penny of Coenwulf: This is a rarely seen coin. Coenwulf ruled from 796-826 AD. It was found by a metal detector user and we have been told it was minted in the town of Winchester.
The obverse legend reads COENWULF REX. The reverse reads ADVD. We are still awaiting confirmation and a full identification on this coin but as you can see from the photo it is in VF condition.
