This is a shilling in excellent condition from the Second Issue of Queen Elizabeth I. This issue was minted between 1560-1561.
The obverse legend reads ‘ELIZABETH DG AN FRA ET HIB REGINA’ - Elizabeth by the Grace of God Queen of England France and Ireland. The mintmark is a martlet denoting the year of issue.
The reverse legend reads ’POSUI DEU ADIUTOREM MEU’ - I have made God my helper. The reverse shows a long cross over the royal shield.
