These Roman/Celtic votive swords seem to date from Celtic to late 4th century. We found info on the Internet which told us that Roman votive swords were, and sometimes still are, ritual, miniature, or ceremonial, non-functional replicas of the gladius (short sword) or spatha (long sword) designed for offerings to gods at shrines, in, or near water, reflecting an, often, 1st-century Romano-Celtic, in, or, across, Britain, ritual, practice.
The originals were typically made of copper alloy or iron and our example was a copper allooy find made by a detectorist.
